List of New GI Bill Gov Benefits

GI Bill benefits have changed as of August 1st, 2009; your educational funding may change significantly as a result of these changes. When selecting the right program, you need to know the differences.

The major difference in your benefits is the addition of the Post 9/11 GI Bill, which in most cases is a better option than other educational benefits such as the Montgomery GI Bill.

Listed here are the differences between these two Bills mentioned above.

The Post 9/11 Bill will pay directly to the school you select all tuition and fees up to the cost of the most expensive state Institution of Higher Education of the Sate the school you select resides.

You would even be eligible for a housing allowance that depends on an E-5 with dependence. Part of the funds received from the GI Bill are determined by the school’s location, based on its zip code.

You would even get a stipend of about $1,000 per year for books.

The Post 9/11 Bill is the best choice on paper, as the allowance you will get exceeds the monthly paid $1321 authorized by the Montgomery GI Bill, but other factors will come into play.

One such thing to consider is, some States the cost of tuition and housing would be less than the $1,321 monthly allowance you would receive under the Montgomery Bill., therefore making it the best choice.

A few states don’t charge Veterans tuition at all, these should be considered when thinking of using the Montgomery Bill.

The new Post 9/11 GI Bill is a great benefit it makes doing your homework before you select a school and it gives you more options.

You can only pick between the two bills once.

The easiest way to make the right choice is to contact Military friendly schools within the Sate that you want to attend classes, and allow them to help you pick the Bill that will pay you the most benefits.

Military friendly Schools will have staff that understands the different GI Bill Government programs, and it is in their best interest to help you make the right decision.
